What the heck less than 5 star reviews ar on about.

Disclaimer first: The Only reason I am leaving it 4 stars is that many people ignore the 5-star reviews. Don't be fooled - this is a 5-star product. For under thirty greenbacks you get a swiss quality knife. It has no flex to the blade. It's fairly comfortable to hold because of the handle grooves and it comes very sharp new.Yes, it is lightweight due to the plastic handle - deal with it - it's a very inexpensive knife.Yes, Wusthof knives ARE better, they are also 2-3 times more expensive. No point in reducing stars for that.Did I mention that unlike knives with wooden handles this one actually dishwasher safe?Is it a chef knife? It depends on what you're looking for - this more meant for smaller cuts - think apple, not large cabbage. If you looking for a knife to cut cabbage - you'd need an 8" knife, if you want to cut apple or a bandwidth - this one is actually a better tool for a job.

A good honest knife that feels good and works!

I prefer this handle to the Fibrox, just fits my hands better. Also prefer these over the higher priced forged versions as the alloy is almost identical and the performance is too…the stampeded blades are easier to sharpen with out the heavy forged finger guard as well. Holds a decent edge and takes a decent edge quickly on my 800 stone, I don’t bother with any higher on this as the Chosera 800 cuts like a 400 but finishes like a 1200 plus. Daily use as a counter knife and as a beater to keep my VG-10 Enso and Yaxell knives safe from knocking around. It can’t compare to them but it’s close and keeps them ready for the more extensive and focused use when I am paying attention!

    Not the Victorinox of old

Years ago I purchased a couple of these and still use them but they are not as sharp as when they were new. I purchased two more, one serrated, the other not. The first day they cut a tomato like it was not even there. Now only a few short weeks later the smooth blade won't even start to cut a tomato unless you break the skin with the point first. The serrated will still cut the skin, but it takes a sawing motion to get it started. I probably won't buy this knife again. But I did buy another brand as well, a little less expensive and it did not cut a tomato out of the box, yet felt very sharp. Knife quality has gone down hill apparently since I bought the first ones.

    Extremely Sharp

Got my knife yesterday. I was a bit upset to hear my wife ask from the kitchen, "Where did you get this knife?" So, she got to be the first to use it. I made food today to try it out. It is really sharp. I was looking for a straight edge (non serrated) knife that would hold an edge. I paid $12 for the old knife and it had to be sharpened before every use. I have only had this knife two days, but it butterflies fajitas (beef skirt) like a giant razor blade. The blade is just as sharp and powerful as the line of pocket knives they specialize in. It's also just the right size. I am already thinking about buying another one. A must-have for any serious chef (just count your fingers after every use).

    Not 1½" width at handle

The three stars rating is not for the knife, it cuts well, like most Victorinox products. The low rating is for the seller's description. The knife is NOT 1½" width at handle; in fact is not even 1-1/4"...it's 1-3/16". That's a pretty big error and one that's hard to make by accident. The seller should immediately correct the listing. If not, we might be justified in assuming an intent to not give an accurate dimension.
