About

An ultra-fine layer of EXP Coating is bonded to the 80/20 bronze wrap wire which is then wound onto the hex-shaped core wire. The result is a built-in barrier against the corrosion and wear that can quickly sap the life out of your strings and your sound . EXP 80/20 Bronze strings have a natural round wound feel and extra-bright tone that lasts three to four times longer than traditional guitar strings.

      Simple and clean

      Can't actually speak to longevity, but these are some good, basic strings. Nothing fancy, just good.Unrelated, but if you see a review from a guy who gave them a bad review because they "kept going out of tune", were hard to install, and snapped the bridge off his guitar, that guy tried to put acoustic guitar strings on a Spanish/Classical guitar. Never put acoustic strings on a Spanish/Classical guitar. You put nylon strings on a Spanish/Classical guitar, for what I hope are now obvious reasons.

      D'Addario guitar strings are tops to my ears.

      I love D'Addario acoustic strings. I love the Company. I have medical issues and haven't wrapped my arms around any of my guitars. One would think I would have more than enough time to play music. I have Neuropathy, I'm not Diabetic, obese or depressed, I'm in pain 24/7. I had Back surgery in 2000, never been the same. Both legs, both feet, 10 toes, bottoms of each foot and Back have serious issues. I don't want to read anymore MRI, Nerve Conduction Studies. Each time I have an MRI the results reveal another herniated disc. Ok no one wants to hear of my medical condition, I'm here to praise the D'Addario Company. Can't be beat!

      I WILL ALWAYS SWEAR BUY THIS BRAND 17 YEARS PLAYING GUITAR

      D’Addario is the crem de la crem of strings. The tone is phenomenal. Most of the best records you have heard have used D’Addarios. But here is why I love them.THEY LASTI’ve done everything from metal music in drop A# and G to leading worship in a church of over 3000 people and they have held up.I prefer the warm sound of old(but clean strings) and I have, even through aggressive playing and abuse, not broken a string in years. I will literally leave a set of strings on for 1-2 years and never have any complaints.I use them in my electrics and Acoustics and my bass.Ive used everything from Ernie balls to DRs and Dunlop’s and in between. Nothing will ever beat this brand.

      Not What I’d Hoped For

      I stopped buying D’Addario about 15 years back because their strings wore out too quick for my taste. They lose any sparkle - vibrancy within a couple days max. They might be durable and that does matter some, but they don’t feel good to play. So I tried these treated strings to see if D’Addario had figured it out.In my opinion, they haven’t. These play a touch better than the cheaper variant strings and sounded decent for the first few hours or so that I put them on but they quickly lost their vibrant quality and made my guitar sound more bland. I’m trying out Ernie Ball strings again before going back to Elixer, who might be more expensive but sound great for weeks, even months after setting the strings for the first time. I’m more interested in that vibrant sound and playability than having some illusion of strong purity. If they sound good and feel good, I want them.I felt these strings were overpriced and not up to the standards of competitors. They just OK.

      Been good for a long time.

      I'm of an opinion that certain guitars want certain strings. Opinions vary. But my '83 12 sting ovation and these Phosphor Bronze strings get along perfectly. It's one of my favorite guitar to sting combinations ever. And D'Addarios are great on everything really. You just have to dial in the set you want. Different alloys sound, well, different. They all stay in tune and have a nice longevity, plus stretch out really fast. You can't go wrong with these strings, but of course in the end, season to taste.
