  Great Tool, Read the Instructions

  This is probably one of the best attachments for the dremel I've used thus far. I purchased this to help me cut my dog's nails, but have found it extremely valuable when doing any type of fine detail work, especially in wood working.Seeing as the product looks pretty cut and dry, i just went right into attaching it onto the dremel. Even though I got the process right, I still recommend consulting the instructions as there are some maintenance tips and best practices that they list out in there. The extension requires lubrication every 25-30 hours of use which involves taking it apart and running some wheel bearing grease on it. There's a card separate from the instructions that tells you to hold the dremel upside down and let it run at high speed for awhile to help break the extension in that could easily be missed. Lastly, they recommend to keep the dremel motor elevated from the wand/extension, so the shaft doesn't accidentally disengage, also for longevity to put less lateral stress on the extension.

  You get what you pay for? This time I got ALOT less than what I payed for!

  I read other comments about this tool, so I reservations. But I ordered it anyway. The first day I tried to use it, it did nothing. I thought I could've done something wrong. So I went through the process again. I turned the Dremel on and again nothing, except this time I heard a very quiet high pitched squeal coming from my dremel. Within 2 seconds, before I could turn it off, I had smoke coming out of the dremel. Apparently, the tool was in some kind of bind which is is why the flex wouldn't turn but that bind also burned up the dremel.So, if you get a bad flex, depending on what's wrong with it, you might end up replacing both of the tools. Bad thing is you won't know til it's too late. There are other brands of the flex type that are pretty universal. They fit many brands of Rotary tools. I haven't tried any of them yet.I just got a replacement. of both tools(Dremel brand)...we'll see

  Very useful but breaks easily - doesn’t last long

  I need this for carving. It reduces the vibration in my hands tremendously and keeps the Dremel tool away from the dust and shavings and keeps it running. Those are the good things. Now for the bad. The flex shaft overheats, a lot! It literally gets smoking hot and melts the rubber insulation off of the metal flex shaft. I keep the flex ord/shaft as straight as possible when working. Problem 2 - these break very easily and do not last long. It is frustrating to say the least but I still keep buying them to replace the broken ones.

  I’m happy with the attachment- but...

  A little backstory before I go into the flex shaft itself: I was gifted an older dremel, the flex shaft has the older dremel’s model number in the details, I am using it for wood carving.The flex shaft feels very sturdy in your hand, it doesn’t feel like if you drop it or get agressive in any way that it’ll crumble. The fact that this fits an older model dremel, one about ten or so years old? Gets big kudos for me. It does it’s job.I needed to watch a YouTube video to see how to attach the flex shaft to the dremel, the directions weren’t completely clear, but the process itself is simple and makes sense if you aren’t having a slow brain day. It kind of sucks that you really cannot put much of a bend into the shaft, but it’s better than nothing.I feel the attachment makes my dremel bog down, it sounds slower, like it’s having to work harder and the machine, along with the flex shaft both got burning hot after only a few minutes of messing around. I am a little nervous that this will cause my machine’s engine to break. But, this may be remedied by hanging the tool. I thought the flex shaft would help with the pain of holding the heavy machine up, but I found that it was more painful to use the flex shaft, although it was nice to see what I was doing very clearly, and since there is no “weight” to the attachment I didn’t feel like I was forcing the bit to work.Overall, I’m happy with the attachment, but I am worried it will burn out the motor in my dremel.

  Replacement for a old one I lost or grew legs! I don't like the new grip compared to the old style.

  Works fine, I followed the break-in instructions (Hang Dremel vertically with extension attached, run on high for 2-3 minutes, to break-in, and allow lubricant to spread throughout the extension) the only issue I had was when I put it in the Dremel case (in the lid where it's designed to go) somehow the (Spring/Shaft) slid out without my noticing it! I found it on the floor the next day! I didn't know it somehow came out!!! I had to clean it off (sawdust etc) before inserting it back into the extension sheath, Dremel needs to find a way to secure it into the sheath! It probably came out because it was warm from the break-in run. I don't like the new grip on it compared to the old extension I had, Dremel changes the design sometimes it's not for the better! But it's functional as it is.
